WARP
GABBIA ESCATOLOGICA

2010

audio live performance

Warp: gabbia escatologica (eschatological cage) is based on the attempt to present the experience of time, chronology, in an alternative way to the classic space-linear timeline. The audio performance builds an engaging and involving space to reflect on the relationship that normally binds time and sounds. The sound structure is formed by a cycle that repeats itself, starting from a clock-like sound which is subjected to various processes and effects to accelerate or slow down, undergo variations, lose its modular structure, deconstruct itself and spreading in the spatial dimension building a synaesthesia between auditory and tactile input given by the vibration of low frequencies within the space. At particular moments the soundtrack is covered by the vibration of a very low frequency -close to the limit of inaudibility, it is not heard anymore- and generates the illusion of a suspension of time.
