aaron inker works with a variety of media, most frequently installation, audio, video, and socially based field work. To stimulate discussion, generate thought, invite people to reflect, be critical and curious, investigate questions about reality and everyday life - things that are usually unnoticed - are the main aims of the artistic process.

Based on his passion for science and sci-fi, his latest research has developed around theory fiction, understood as the ability of artistic and cultural products (and process) to merge or mix theoretical elements [philosophy, academic texts, scientific data, ...] and narrative/aesthetic [speculative fiction, science fiction, worldbuilding ... ].

Theory fiction, like artistic research, is a tool that attempts to recount the complexity of the contemporary world, to reconnect people to the time and space they are living, counteracting the distortions of an economic system based on the extraction of resources and data and the post-truth drift of storytelling. A model -an onthology- that leads to a fragmented and individualistic society where neither the sciences nor the research disciplines in the humanities are able to explain the reality, to connect with people and include them into a shared ground.

The potential of art, in this theory-fiction attitude, is precisely that of creating new worlds, new imagery, opening up new lines of thought, unhinging the sectorised world and mixing skills and experience from different fields into new practices.

Working often as an educator and a cultural operator has brought his research towards a relational approach, focusing on the connection between his own practice and the community, environment and context in which he’s operating.

Building on this approach, he is co-founder and part of the team behind an independent cultural space named Hydro - hosted in the Fondazione Pistoletto complex - active in the design, development and experimentation of new forms of cultural experience and audience engaging strategies for artistic, social and cultural content.

His visual research also extends to the profession of vj which led him to take care of the visual impact of clubs, events, and international festivals and perform alongside renowned artists.
